A Message from the Doctor

Dr. Meyer has recently attended the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control in Arizona and is now an Associate Member of the organization.

This group of caring doctors is very concerned about the dramatic increase in Myopia (nearsightedness) in the United States and around the world. Estimates are that by 2020, as much as 50% of all U.S. children will become myopic. In some parts of Asia, as much as 80 to 90% of children are myopic already.

The organization is dedicated to advancing education and promoting techniques to minimize myopic progression to include:
1) environmental management including limiting screen time and facilitating outdoor activity
2) Orthokeratology (Corneal Reshaping) which involves overnight contact lens wear to eliminate the need for optical correction and retard myopic progression
3) the use of soft multifocal contacts to reduce progression
4) the use of eye drops to minimize progression

Call now to set up a consultation or register for one of our monthly information sessions to be held on the third Wednesday evening of each month at 7:30 pm beginning this June.
